Presence

The more we call on the Lord
the more we can feel his Presence.
Day by day he draws us closer
to his loving heart.

Freedom

Lord, too often I think I am the one in control of my life,
Help me to see that I am powerless over so much.
I ask for the grace to be able to hand over my life to you
And experience the joy of that freedom.

Consciousness

I remind myself that I am in the presence of the Lord.
I will take refuge in His loving heart.
He is my strength in times of weakness.
He is my comforter in times of sorrow.

The Word of God

Luke 10:1-9

After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, “Peace to this house!” And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you. Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the labourer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you; cure the sick who are there, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”

Some thoughts on today's scripture

  • Jesus invites me to travel lightly, not to be burdened or weighed down so that I might more readily offer peace to those I meet. He encourages me to offer a blessing confidently without concern for how my good wishes are accepted. I will not be lessened by what is not received. I pray that I might continue to give generously, knowing that what I offer comes from God.
  • I ask for the grace to be ready and willing to spread the joy of the Gospel wherever I am, relying above all on the power of my mission from Jesus. I ask to be one of the labourers sent out to the abundant harvest.

We don’t always need to talk to communicate.
Can I imagine myself sitting quietly with Jesus?
Can I look silently at him and He at me?
How do I feel?

Thank God for His gift of love
As you go forth with joy and hope
To serve His people.
