Covid-19 is still a stranger, but each day, with each death, our experts learn something new. Around the world, scientists are searching for a cure. They’re working to develop a vaccine which will then have to be clinically trialled before being made available for wider use. Give them the strength to persevere in this slow and lifesaving work and help them to stay focused. Inspire their creativity and guide them with your wisdom.
Medical experts are refashioning ventilators for multi-patient use so that healthcare workers can treat many more in their care. Bless their initiative and enable them to realise the lifesaving potential of what they have to hand.
Reading: John 5:19-21
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
Help me, Lord, to manage the information overload that has come with Covid-19, taking care not to feed my anxiety with fake news and false reports.
