Mark 4:26-29

The Word of God

Jesus said to the crowd, "The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come."

    • Could it be that I have prayed in the past and not taken time to recognise how God has answered me? I ask God now to shed light on my life and help me to see how small seeds of hope and prayer have become established in my life.
    • The reign of God is in the hopeful activity, in the patient waiting and the in inspired observation. show me, Lord, how I already inhabit your kingdom.

    • Seeds grows quietly, inexorably – tiny yet powerful. The fruit is hinted at, becomes more evident and is finally ready. God’s ways come to growth in me in similar ways as I see traces in the past of what emerges later. I pray for patience and for hope as I long for God’s spirit to be more clearly at work in me.
    • Jesus wondered at small, ordinary realities. I take time to notice what is about me and let my surroundings speak to me of where God may be moving in my life.
