Daily Prayer - 2013-06-13

Presence

"Be still and know that I am God."
Lord, Your words lead us to the
calmness and greatness of your presence.

Freedom

Lord, may I never take the gift
of freedom for granted. You gave
me the great blessing of freedom of
spirit. Fill my spirit with Your peace and
Your joy.

Consciousness

At this moment Lord I turn my thoughts to you.

I will leave aside my chores and preoccuptions.

I will take rest and refreshment in your presence Lord.

The Word of God

Matthew 5:20

For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Some thoughts on today's scripture

Active
Default
  • Scribes and Pharisees were righteous and people of the law. Jesus asks for more – for the compassion that sees beyond the law and people’s weaknesses to the glory and love of God in each and all.

Conversation

Remembering that I am still in God's presence,

I imagine Jesus himself standing or sitting beside me,

and say whatever is on my mind, whatever is in my heart,

speaking as one friend to another.

Conclusion

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen
