Daily Prayer - 2013-02-25

Presence

I remind myself that, as I sit here now,

God is gazing on me with love and holding me in being.

I pause for a moment and think of this.

Freedom

Lord, may I never take the gift
of freedom for granted. You gave
me the great blessing of freedom of
spirit. Fill my spirit with Your peace and
Your joy.

Consciousness

At this moment Lord I turn my thoughts to you.

I will leave aside my chores and preoccuptions.

I will take rest and refreshment in your presence Lord.

The Word of God

Luke 6:36-38

Jesus said to the disciples, "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

Some thoughts on today's scripture

Default
  • What a beautiful, challenging Lenten programme! Let us strive each day for the remainder of Lent not to judge or condemn; to forgive and tell others that they are forgiven; and to do one daily act of generosity. What transformed people we will be by Easter!
  • Imagine someone filling your sack with flour. They pour in the flour to the brim. Then they shake the sack gently in order to let the flour settle. And then they fill it up again until it is overflowing. That is God’s unstinting generosity.

Conversation

Jesus, you always welcomed little children when you walked on this earth. Teach me to have a childlike trust in you. To live in the knowledge that you will never abandon me.

Conclusion

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
